Q: When am I ready to make a demo?
A: When you can nail a script within 3-5 takes. When you are confident enough to direct yourself at an audition. When you understand voice over copy in a way that goes beyond having a great sounding voice. When you can be 100% believable. In short, voice over is a specialized genre of acting, and it does take specific training. With technology, great direction, and a lot of time, it is possible to make a good demo for a not so great voice actor. The only problem is, that actor won't be able to deliver when it counts - in an audition, or on a job.
